The Musashi Hand Honed series swords are full-tang and can be fully dissasembled. The sword is made with high temper carbon steel. The blade was created by combining two pieces of steel with different hardiness into one solid piece (iron wrap process) and differentially tempering it until desired hardiness has been achieved.
Uesugi Kenshin was a warlod who ruled Echigo province in the Sengoku Period of Japan. In 1548, Kenshin became the owner of the castle of Haruyama and was engaged in the Battle of Kawanakajima with Takeda Shingen. His original name was Nagao Kagetora. Later he consecutively changed his name to Uesugi Masatora, to Uesugi Terutora and finally to Kenshin after he became a buddist.
This sword measures 40.75 inches overall with the scabbard on and 38.5 inches without. Sword is made with all steel fittings. The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a black flat finish. Wrapped around the upper half of the sheath is a black sage-o with a golden kurigata. The blade is made out of carbon steel measuring 27 inches in length. The handle has imitation Ray skin wrapped grip & Black cotton cord wrap. The blade is full tang that is held inside the handle with a wooden peg. This functional sword has a thick .25 inch blade that tapers to the tip at 3/16 inches. Sword comes complete with a hardwood box with informational cards, display stand, cover and sword cleaner. Don't let the price of this sword deceive as this sword is very sharp and fully functional. |
