Story of the reverse blade sword: A former Imperialist assassin, Kenshin grieves for the lives he has taken. He vowed to never kill again, and traded in his katana and wakizashi for a reverse-bladed sword. Also known as sakabato, the reverse blade sword was given to Kenshin by a master sword smith named Shakku.

Rurouni Kenshin is one of the most influential anime series ever created and popular among Eastern and Western enthusiasts alike. Many different sword reproductions have surfaced with minor inaccuracies or faulty manufacturing; however, recently an authentic handmade version of the Rurouni Kenshin Sakabato was made available to us. There are no surprises underneath the handle of this sword, full tang construction and geniuine japanese craftsmanship only. The 29 inch carbon steel blade carries the unique features of the fictional Sakabato with the reverse placement of the Mune (Blade Spine) and Ha (Blade Edge). Equipped with an authentic Hamon and natural sword grain (Hara) the blade will match up in quality to costly professional-grade katanas. The blade collar (Habaki) is gold plated along with the traditonally designed spacer (Seppa) all sitting atop the smoothed stainless steel Tsuba molded in the famous Rurouni Kenshin shape. Both the collar (Fuchi) and buttcap (Kashira) have been coated in an antique finish and designed with classic japanese accents and overtones. The leather wrapped handle has been ito braided and will no fray or wear-off even after hours of rigorouss training and exercise. Underneath the ito wrap is authentic rayskin handle and gold plated Menuki styled in the shape of a dragon. No rat tang construction or threaded pommels, two authentic Mekugi (sword pegs) are used to hold the handle and blade together (no spare pegs included). Housing the blade is an authentic wooden scabbard (Saya) which has been painted with a high gloss black finish and adorned with thick nylon cord (Sageo). Included is a black high gloss display table stand with Rurouni Kenshin Tsuba emblem, sword cleaning kit with box, and black cotton sword bag. Measures 40 inches overall with a 29 inch blade, and 11 inch handle. |
